Mad Bullets Game Review

Mad Bullets Review

Description

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

Mad Bullets is an action game with fast-paced shooting mechanics. There are several modes of play, but primarily you’ll be unlocking new weapons and upgrading them. The game’s mechanic is simple: shoot the matching colored cubes to earn points, which can then be spent on upgrades or weapons. You can also pick up additional guns dropped by fallen enemies.

The graphics in this game follow a minimalistic design philosophy; so much so that it almost looks like something out of Minecraft (which was probably intentional). Even though there isn’t anything too flashy about the aesthetics, I will say that it does look good enough for what it attempts to do; not distract from gameplay by looking overdone.

There are several features included in the game:

A campaign mode that takes you through a variety of locations and missions.

An upgrade shop where you can use coins earned from missions to purchase new weapons, upgrades and armour; as well as spend spare change on cashing in your current arsenal for another gun.

There are quite a few different weapon types available to unlock, each with their own unique style of firing or damage output. For reference I’ve listed them below according to what I believe they could be best employed against (or used by):

Burst – These guns have high rate of fire but low damage meaning they’re perfect for smaller enemies, up close & personal fights.

Spread shot – High rate of fire and limited spread means these guns are useful for taking out enemies that like to dodge, as the shots fire in a circular pattern.

Shotgun – These come in all shapes and sizes; but damage is fairly high with decent rate of fire. They’re ideal for groups of enemies at close range as their spread allows them to hit multiple targets (or quick follow up shots).

Unfortunately this game seems to suffer from some performance issues on my Samsung Galaxy S5; which is core hardware for an Android device, so I’m honestly not sure why it’s struggling with it! For those who don’t know anything about my phone:

It’s supposed to handle all of the latest and greatest games on Google Play with ease, so I’ll chalk this one down as a bug that hopefully will be patched soon. Besides that issue though; I haven’t experienced any major bugs or crashes during my time playing (I’ve logged several hours on it already).

Mad Bullets is a good choice for people who like score chasing quick-fire games! The graphics are no-nonsense and simple, allowing you to focus purely on the shooting mechanics at the heart of this experience.

I appreciate the style and simplicity of these types of games and would recommend it for fans of similar titles such as: Ballistic; Geometry Wars and the recently released Smash Hit.

If you’d like to purchase this game then you can do so by visiting: Google Play Store .

The machine gun fires in three round bursts – ideal for taking down smaller enemies.

The machine gun is good for covering ground quickly, but damage output is low over distance.

The duck icon allows you to enter the first-person perspective at any time by clicking/tapping on it. It can be useful for taking down distant enemies or gaining a different perspective of the action – I’ve caught myself dabbling in this mode quite often!

The grenade launcher deals high splash damage to close targets, but has limited ammo and must be reloaded after every shot. Although not pictured here, grenades bounce along surfaces before exploding; making them great for flushing out enemies that are hiding behind cover (or other environmental objects) – very satisfying when that tactic pays off! The rocket launcher fires two rockets simultaneously at whatever you’re targeting. The rockets deal high damage to everything close enough for the splash damage radius to take effect, though they can be difficult to use due to their slow-moving projectiles and lack of accuracy – at least until you get used to it!

The pistol is ideal for taking out nearby enemies quickly. It has limited range so you’ll want switch it out for one of your other primary weapons when engaging distant foes or moving onto the next wave.

It’s not only primary weapons that can be found, either; there are also secondary items on offer too! Click/tap anywhere on the image below to open up a new window containing all weapon types currently available in Mad Bullets:

Throughout each of this game’s various levels you’ll encounter a variety of different enemies – from the slow-moving fodder to the quick-moving, bullet-sponge baddies that require a bit more tactical thinking and accuracy. The weapons on offer here are very effective against most enemy types, but there are some notable exceptions:

Enemy Weakness Resistances Zombies, skeletons none! Ugh… bouncing skulls, what’s next? 🙂 Mummies, dastardly dames none! Just don’t get too close unless you’re coming in hot with your bazooka/grenade launcher or something similar. Spiders N/A You can kill ’em before they even come down off the ceiling if you’re quick enough – just watch out for their web attack! It’s semi-transparent so it may be difficult to spot unless you’re looking carefully. Tiki warrior, knights N/A This dude is tough! He can withstand damage from nearly every weapon in this game, though he does have a few telltale tells that might help you take him down – see if you can spot them all :-). Venus flytrap, voodoo doll none! They’re easy enough to kill anyway, but their attacks are stronger than other enemies. Just keep your distance and spam grenades or something similar against them!

Moonstones & Perks

As well as finding the odd weapon upgrade during the various levels that litter Mad Bullets ‘ campaign mode, there are also occasional chances to make use of Moonstones . These stones are used to enhance each of your perks, be it increasing the amount of coins you earn for shooting enemies or the damage output of your weapons.

Above: An example perk & what improving it would look like – if it were available to do so at this point in time! There are a total of 26 different perks that can be unlocked throughout Mad Bullets , though some are only available through use of Moonstones . Perhaps the most important one is ‘Get Some’, which is gained by destroying 15 enemy vehicles with rockets during any level. This perk allows you to recover ammo after successful rocket hits on enemies; giving you a much-needed boost mid-game when things really start getting tough!

Aside from these stone-enhanced abilities, there’s also the challenge system that offers up a selection of mini-missions with varying rewards on offer. Keep your eyes peeled for these as you progress through the campaign!
